Therapy for Children

Child Therapy

Counseling for Ages 3-12

Michelle believes that while kids are having fun, they’re also working.  Children often cannot use words to express themselves in the same way that adults can, even though they experience feelings that are just as deep and complicated as feelings can be for adults.

What does this mean for therapy?  It means that therapy will include imaginative and expressive play.  It means a focus on regulating the body before we get down to the emotional work.  It means that it’s highly likely that therapy sessions will include movement activities, listening to music, playing games, artwork, and using toys during sessions.  Each of these activities will be tailored to your child’s unique goals that they are working on.

Michelle treats a variety of issues that children may be experiencing, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Developmental Concerns
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Behavioral Concerns
  • Attachment Issues
  • ADHD
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Social Skills Deficits
  • Behavioral Concerns Related to Sensory Processing Disorder
